AFL-CIO Endorsement Consideration
June 8, 2010
Tim received a call yesterday from *Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, AFL-CIO asking if he could quickly respond to an endorsement interview opening for today. Tim took the time to make the interview arriving on time. To the surprise of both Tim and his opponent Carolyn Laine DFL HD 50-A, Carolyn just happened to be interviewed prior to Tim. They met in the lobby as Carolyn left her interview and exchanged pleasant conversation.
The interview lasted about 15 minutes, with representatives from the AFL-CIO, Communications Workers Local 7250, Operating Engineers Local 49, Painters District Council 82, Letter Carriers Branch 9, Postal Workers Local 125, Electricians Local 292, Education Minnesota, and the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Local 17 were present. The group had several questions
concerning Tim's reply to an AFL-CIO survey questionnaire supplied to him. Some questions required clarification since a couple survey questions I could not agree with because of Constitutional violations of government powers.
My closing presentation focused on a need for Constitutional leadership, and my mission of making real Constitutional reforms in St. Paul. The one closing point I failed to bring up is the positive opportunity for the labor movement within the Republican Party in St. Paul.
