Bus Canvas

September 3, 2010

We had a great time today traveling around the district and focusing on Fridley W1-P4. The weather, being cold, kept many folks indoors, but we still noticed many folks looking out windows at our bus and waving. We had several other experiences as we parked and waved at folks along 53rd and Central by Target, 55th and University, 61st and University, 37th and Stinson. We also drove the streets meeting folks outside their homes, walking their animals and playing in the parks with their children. Mona did
most of the talking tonight as I had to drive the bus.

While we were by the Target exit, a large black sport utility vehicle patiently waited for traffic to clear. Suddenly the back passenger window rolls down and this boy about 10 years old started waving at me. The child then clearly yelled "Hi Tim, I would vote for you but I am too young."  What a great comment; that just made my night. Another experience came from a group who just moved into Fridley from outstate Minnesota. They had seen the bus and were excited to meet me and sign the bus with messages to St. Paul. Additionally, they are looking forward to voting for Tim Utz in November.

Standing on the rear platform of the bus and waving to folks proved very enjoyable for people who drove past us. In addition we broke another record. Tonight we had three middle finger salutes by folks. People are settling into their favorite candidates and tonight three people expressed their intentions on Election Day.
