Campaign Update

September 5, 2010

Today we took the bus out for 5.5 hours. The trip started in St. Anthony and wound throughout the district, ending in the northwest corner of Fridley at the Coon Rapids border. We covered 85% of the district in 5.5 hours and $20.00 of gas. We had several thousand contacts while driving the bus through the district, waving at vehicles, and we specifically had 98 personal conversations with random voters we came across in the district. Of the 98 personal contacts, seven did not want any communications with us, while 15 or so were interested but wanted to check out our campaign further. The best part is the remaining 76 (Democrats, nonparty affiliated and Republicans) are excited and ready to vote Tim Utz in November.

A fun outcrop of having the campaign bus is how the youth just love our bus. The under 18 group consistently want a business card and then will go tell mom and dad they need to vote Tim Utz on Election Day. The experience of meeting a real candidate engages them in political activity.
