Columbia Heights Parade
June 25, 2010
CCCR staff made preparations for a successful parade today, the weather had other intentions. We gathered with refreshments, candy, business cards and an attitude of meeting the people. We opted not to be like our opponent Carolyn Laine, who, yesterday at the Fridley Parade, intended to ride in her convertible as she waived toward her subjects.
We had just located our positioning spot in the parade route, settled in and within a couple minutes we experienced Noah's flood waters. Very soon after, a kind Columbia Heights police officer walked by our bus and stated that the parade was cancelled. This was only the second time in 50 years. So much for our "We the People" contact in Columbia Heights. Onto plan "B" - - any
suggestions?
The staff, not wanting any opportunity to be wasted, voted to Visit La Casita in Columbia Heights for dinner. A great time was had by all as the flood waters continued outside. Tim had several opportunities to meet folks in the establishment and discuss their support for our campaign, not all was lost. Photos available here.
