Government Spending Just to Spend

July 28, 2010

I came across a disturbing Associated Press article posted in the Pioneer Press on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, section 2B, related to government. The issue in the obscure three paragraph story for me is reckless government spending. Apparently the Superior National Forest, through the USDA, forestry department, established The Superior Resource Advisory Committee as authorized under Title II of the Secure Rural Schools Act and Community Self-Determination Act of 2008, (Public Law 110_343). Notice the program title and how funds are being allocated unrelated to the program authorization in this story. The (SRAC) functions under the final charter developed by the Eastern Region of the USDA-Forest Service and has received $800,000.00 from the Title II program.According to the Pioneer Press article the two year, $400,000.00 a year in grant money, has no allocation to a specific project. For that reason the committee (SRAC) is taking requests for proposals on spending the money to enhance the Superior forest along with a group of other specifications. Here is only one of thousands of examples where government (in this case the federal government) has become a funding addict, consuming all commerce, wealth and liberty. This is the funding of an obscure line item program created in a congressional authorization program from 2008, which attempts to steal power from "We the People". Then, for no other purpose than spending, an unrelated committee is established and grants of $800,000.00 or more are appropriated.

The internet is a fantastic tool to discover how government functions, steals, and confiscates from America. What will you do today?
