Support One Who Will Honor Constitution

February 23, 2010

Greg Sloat, campaign chairman for Tim Utz for House 50-A in 2010 recently submitted a "letter to the Editor" with the Sun-Focus who published the submission week of 2/19/10. A paper published for folks living on the area covered by HD 50-A.  Campaign Committee for Constitutional Republicans (CCCR) is now extending the letter to your media organization for publishing consideration.

Letter: Support one who will honor Constitution
By now most Americans realize there is something seriously wrong with our government. Those whom we send to Washington to represent "We the People" no longer seem to understand that they work for us and not the other way around. They no longer act as public servants, but more and more as if they are our masters. The tail truly is wagging the dog, but it doesn't have to be this way.

We can, should and must elect people who will abide by the Constitution and work to get this country back on track. Sometimes that means saying "no" to legislation that on the surface seems like a good idea but is not constitutional. That door can't be opened without allowing a flood of the sort of special-interest policies and legislation that got us into our current mess.

Ultimately, we have to take responsibility for not keeping an eye on those whom we elect, and for holding them accountable to the limits our Constitution places on government, but 2010 is an excellent chance to start making amends. It doesn't matter where you stand politically, we need to stop thinking in terms of a candidate's party - or if they even have one - and start electing people who will obey their oath of office and the Constitution.

The best way to accomplish this, wherever you live, is to start locally. We have a wonderful opportunity to do that in House District 50-A by supporting Tim Utz for our state representative.
