Tim Utz's Views on Abortion

Abortion has a long history throughout the human experience. Even today the vast majority of Minnesotans are not in favor of abortion. Most people struggle with balancing the reality of ending a human life with providing personal options for women in what is for them a crisis.

The truth is, abortion is terminating human life. The life within a woman’s body is not the beginning of a frog, hippo or swordfish, but a human being with a God-given soul.

My position, not popular with segments of society, is life begins at conception, is sacred and human. Society has an obligation to protect innocent human life. Even greater is the parent’s responsibility to protect the human life entrusted into their care. Even greater yet, the state has an obligation using the powers afforded by “We the People” to secure the safety of life in the womb.

I understand many events arising from a dangerous or unwanted pregnancy complicate the option of abortion. My position is that when afforded a position as your State Representative in Minnesota House 41-B, I would choose life over political gain.
