Tim Utz's View on the Tax Saving Candidate

Occasionally folks on the campaign trail ask me what I will do for them. I tell them on principle and rule of law I will uphold the Constitutions of Minnesota and the United States. I apply these same principles during my campaign for Minnesota House District 41-B.

As a by-product of limiting my campaign to the rule of Constitutional Law and holding to principle, our campaign is not participating in the PCR program. This is a state-funded program whereby individuals can contribute $50.00 to a candidate, complete a form and in 3 weeks the state sends a refund check to the candidate contributor. After a specified time, the state issues contribution checks to the participating candidates based on formulas.

Many folks had indicated I should participate in this program, yet the principle of my seeking office is a direct violation of my participating in the PCR program. I received a confirmation letter from the state program the week of August 18, 2008. The letter informed our campaign that $5,000.00 was due me if I had participated in the PCR program.

You see folks, I am not even an Election Day winner yet, but I am saving the taxpayers real money. How much money has the other office seekers for Minnesota House of Representatives District 41-B saved the taxpayers on this issue alone?
